Finding Kind

Currently in English class, we are starting to read The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne. While reading Chapter 2, I noticed that even in this time setting that women were harshly criticizing each other and bashing one another; granted Hyster committed a crime, but I don’t think that that gives the women in the town rights to judge her because they don’t know the back story of Hyster’s situation and what actually happened. Recently I watched a documentary called ” Finding Kindness” and it talked about how females tend to judge each other and bully one another simply because it is in our nature. I found this documentary to be highly interesting and think that everyone, even males, should see it! It highlights how we are all victims of bullying and judgement, yet we, ourselves, still give that same hurtful treatment towards others. It baffles me how this happens because we all know how hurtful it is to be called names and to be talked about behind our backs, and yet we still do it. So much hurt and tears would end if we would all realize that we are all on the same team and instead of putting each other down, we should be helping one another. I hope that one day, people will start to truly treat other the way they want to be treated because nothing is going to improve in society unless we ourselves change. If you have nothing nice to say, don’t say anything at all; it’s that simple.
